I’m a scientist specialized on Microbiology and Bacteriophages. I have a ph.D degree on Microbiology from the University of Chile. My thesis work was focused in the interaction between the pandemic strain O3:K6 of V. parahaemolyticus and its phages.
During the last years, I have worked on different projects in France, Greece and Chile, always interested in the interactions between bacteriophages and bacteria. Currently I’m working in the Institute of Biology of the Pontifical Catholic University of Valparaíso. My research interests are mainly focused in the role of bacteriophages in the evolution of bacteria and the its use to control any kind of bacterial infection or contamination. Please, don’t hesitate on contact me if you think we can do innovative work together |
BacteriaOur research is mainly focused in bacteria from the genus Vibrio and Pseudomonas syringae pv. actinidiae (Psa)
|
PhagesWe have isolated several vibriophages and phages against Psa
|
ProjectsThe aim of our projects is to understand the role of bacteriophages in the diversification and virulence of their bacterial host. And to explore the potential use of phages as antimicrobials
